(Trigger Warning: Suicidal Thoughts) I was three years sober when a family situation sent me careening into the darkest place of my life. I can’t share the situation specifically, but I can tell you my body responded how it would to trauma. I started off in survival mode and adrenalin kept me coasting for a few weeks, but once the adrenalin wore off, a weighted blanket of darkness took over.
